After accidentally puncturing your skin with a USB drive, a new file has appeared entitled with your name.
'Damn it' Casper whispered as he tried to clean off the blood stain on the USB with his uninjured hand.
He was clearing out the rubbish in his cupboard when he accidentally injured himself. An old USB with rugged metal edge had pierced his left palm, leaving pieces of skin in it. As he cleaned the USB, he wondered if it still works and what was inside it.
Out of curiosity, he plugged it into his laptop waited for the drive to load. There were a few folders in it. It was the thumb drive he had used to save most of his high school projects. It was a long time ago. At the end of this year, 2016, he would have gotten his degree. He started to reminisce as he scrolled through the folders. It was nostalgic.
As he went through the folders, something caught his eye. A folder labelled with his full name, unlike the others. He double clicked on it only to reveal another folder labelled with 'My Life', and a 'README' txt. After years of torrenting games, he proceeded to open the txt file out of habit as it was where he would find the installation guide.
'This folder contains the full life story of Casper Applepen'
'Bullshit', Casper thought.
He went on to open the other folder, which opens up to more folders labelled with numbers and arranged in increasing order.
He clicked the number 14 which opened up and showed another txt file named '14 Years Old'. He opened it without hesitation and began reading through it.
The text was arranged in an orderly manner, starting from January 1st all the way to December 31st. Bullet-points were found under each day; each point describing an event. As he scrolls down, a particular event can be seen repeating throughout the days.
'Puberty', Casper smiled as he thought out loud.
There was no way anyone, not even himself, could have kept such a detailed journal. It was getting unnerving as he kept reading.
A sudden thought hit him.
He quickly went back to the page with numbers and realised that the last folder was numbered 24, his upcoming age. However, it was labelled, '24 - Dead'
He stared at the screen in shock.
After awhile, Casper finally gathered up his courage and opened the folder. He scrolled slowly through the txt folder and all the way to the last line. It read -
